THE CHOIR’S CHAPEL IN ST. PETER’S BASILICA
ROMANTIC WEDDING IN ROME
The Cappella del Coro, also known as the Chapel of the Choir, may be accessed from the left-hand nave when entering St. Peter’s Basilica through the main door and following the side nave approximately halfway through the Basilica.
The sumptuous Chapel of the Choir, decorated with gilded stuccoes, stands at the point where Michelangelo’s Renaissance design ends and Domenico Fontana’s Baroque extension begins.
The painting of the Blessed Virgin behind the altar has a crown that was added in 1904, on the 50th anniversary of the definition of the Immaculate Conception.
P&J Events can assist you with the organisation and coordination of your Catholic wedding in St. Peter’s Basilica, providing the information required and supervising the planning stages connected with the wedding and the ceremony.
In order to celebrate your wedding in Rome in St. Peter’s Basilica, precise rules and regulations must be followed.
Couples who wish to marry in the Cappella del Coro in St. Peter’s must have their parish priest send a letter in which the priest consents to the couple marrying in St. Peter’s and explicitly requests that they may be married there.
Wedding celebrations are usually permitted on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, subject to the rules and availability confirmed by the parish authorities.
There are also specific regulations to be followed for decorations. Music and flowers, with the exception of the bridal bouquet, must be supplied according to the requirements of St. Peter’s parish.
The wedding photographic service may be assigned to the photographer of the couple’s choice, provided that the photographer is authorised by St. Peter’s parish at least 10 days before the wedding date. P&J Events can also provide professional photographers in Rome.
Only church music is permitted, and the instruments allowed are the organ and a tenor vocalist.
