The project came to life in 2002, as a result of an encounter between musicians from different extractions, with a consolidated professional experience and the intention of spreading to a vaster audience the musical culture and traditions that in the 30’s and 40’s reigned from the streets to the prestigious dance clubs of the most important European and overseas countries.
Hence, the artistic proposal is characterised by a personal and original study of the characteristic sound, instruments and approach of Manouche music, a music based on improvisation, opened to contamination, which derives principally from the fusion of Django Reinhardt’s 30’s jazz, also Manouche, and gypsy folklore.
Our concert is realised completely using acoustic instruments: two typical manouche jazz guitars and one violin. The music has an immediate impact on the audience and includes, in addition to a selection of arrangements of pieces composed by the renowned guitarist and composer Django Reinhardt, various standard jazz pieces performed by him and some waltzes with a clear French flavour. THE PERFORMANCE does not require any type of amplification in small places; this musical genre, being high-impact and ambience music, is perfect for intimate circumstances and the like… dinners, cocktail parties, private parties, etc.
