MIDDLE-EASTERN GROUP

World Music for Events and Weddings in Italy.

Gaia began her studies in classical dance ('Daria Collin' Performance Studio and School in Florence) and continued with the Graham Technique (with S. Sentler). She then dedicated herself definitively to Middle Eastern dance with Kassim Bayatly and Roberta Bongini, her mother. She also studied voice, piano (Vito Frazzi's school) and acting (T. Bernardi and L. Martelli). Bachir, Algerian from Orano, is a singer and percussionist. He has performed on national television (RAI) with musicians like Kalhed, Mami and Hasni. He created the group "NURA" together with Viterbo (guitar player) and Olèg Veresciaghin (accordion player). The group recorded a CD by the same name in 1999 for the Sottosuono label, receiving favorable reviews from both critics and the public. The song "Ya Rabbi" was chosen to be in the "Sottosuoni" compilation CD put out by World Music magazine (October 1999).

Music in Italy - Middle-Eastern Group

Bachir is currently working on creating a new group, the "HURRIA" (Libertà) together with Sisto Palombella (on the accordion). The group's music includes traditional Maghrebine songs as well as original compositions. The show is full of joy, happiness, vivacity and is varied both in images as well as in choreography. Each dance is executed with precision to create a unique movement. From its melodic introduction, in fact, the music grows to a wild, rhythmic finale. The order of the dances holds the audience's attention by creating an alteration of shapes, colors and musical styles. The music varies from Turkish songs to Egyptian rhythms.
