Regency shows in this section original Venetian Masks made in papier-mâche, the working of which is completely made by hand by a craftsman operating in his workshop in the center of Venice works according to an ancient tradition to make these characteristic masks that are typical of the Venetian Carnival.  This working, made by hand, starts with the preparing of the layers of paper that are glued between themselves inside a chalk and scaiola mould where they are left for many hours; once they are removed from the mould (this is also made in an artisan way), they are finished and decorated according to the artisan's fancy with tempera water-based colors. The decoration in golden or silver leaf is cold made through a special glue on which the golden or silver leaf is laid. To get the "antique golden finishing" once the golden or silver finishing remainders are removed from it, the mask is first painted and made antique through a walnut pais; once the pais has got dry, the mask is painted a second time so obtaining the final antique finishing.  The masks we introduce to you are to be worn or might be given as present to the guests for them to wear during the party; a facetious and nice idea to make the celebration more amusing and so to better enter the charm of splendid Venice!
