STUDIES:
Born in Empoli (Florence), this soprano studied acting (with Orazio Costa Giovangigli), dance and violin. She received her degree in singing in 1990 in Florence, studying with Vera Magrini and Liliana Poli. She perfected her studies at the 'Centro Lirico Internazionale' in Adria (Rome) with Magda Otìvero, G. Cècchele, G. Carella and A. Terrani; at the 'Scuola Civica' in Milan with B. Peverada and M. Camelli and with Rodolfo Colletti; at the 'Scuola di Fiesole' with Maestro Desderi; at the 'Ateneo Lirico' in Sulmona with Anita Cerquetti, as well as in Milan with P. Vaglieri. She has just received a degree with the highest marks from the Accademia Verdiana in Busseto, and continues to study privately with G. Cècchele and Renata Scotto.

COMPETITIONS:
This soprano has come in as a finalist in numerous international competitions (Puccini, Mascagni, As.Li.Co., Spoleto, Corradetti). In 1988 she won the Primascrittura '88 and in 1990, the Cascinalirica. In 1997 she won the A.GI.MUS. and William Walton competitions. In that same year she was finalist in a competition for young voices in Covent Garden, London. In 2000 she was the only Italian finalist at the Voci Verdiane competition and won, at this same competition, the concert tour in Japan.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES:
After a brief experience in operetta (she was the protagonist in Lehar's "La danza delle libellule" with S. Massimini, a show which was recorded on CD and video under the Ricordi label), she debuted in 1991 at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste as the female protagonist in the comic opera "Boccaccio" by von Suppè. In 1992 also in Trieste she participated in the first Italian production of the Zemlinsky's opera "Il compleanno dell'Infanta" . In that same year she went on tour in South America. During her time there she also held seminars in vocal technique in the capitols of Ecuador and Bolivia. She was then chosen to participate in the televised gala in honor of the tenor G. Lauri Volpi in Ariccia (Rome). Following these experiences she gave numerous concerts and opera-concerts in Italy and abroad (Belgium, France, Holland, Canada, Germany - among which she performed at the prestigious Musikhalle in Hamburg -) with illustrious colleagues like G. Cècchele, R. Bruson, F. Cossotto, and G. Dimitrova. She has debuted in the role of protagonist in the following operas: Bohème (tour in central Italy and in Spain), Tosca (tour in Germany and in Northern Italy), Falstaff (Ischia), Cavalleria Rusticana (Roma, Sassari, Torre del Lago), Don Giovanni ("Donna Elvira", Roma, Alessandria (Egypt) and the National Opera in Cairo), Norma (Bassano Opera Festival), and Verdi's Requiem (Amsterdam at the Concertgebouw), always with much success both with the audiences and with the critics. Recently she was invited to perform during the ceremony of the lyric award at Castell'Arquato and was the protagonist in Pisa of the first performance in modern times of G. Puccini senior's oratorio "II Martirio di San Valemmo". She has also given a recital for Prince Albert of Montecarlo, where she returned for a New Year's Eve concert and where she was again in 2000 for a concerto in honor of Prince Rainier. At the end of 2000 she was on tour in Japan for the "Yamagata Voce Verdiane Festival".

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
Recently she was given the prestigious "Fiorino d'oro" award in Florence for her international musical activities. She has also won various awards for her parallel literary activity such as, in 1997, first place at the international "Massimo Troisi una Poesia per il Cinema" competition . In May 1999 she was nominated 'Senatore Accademico' of the Accademia Internazionale Medicea for her outstanding artistic merits. . Her musical repertoire also includes chamber music, contemporary music, lieder and musicals.
